Good Morning Everyone! I’ve been working on some fresh updates for our screened-in porch.
This porch is ready just in time to enjoy some Summer days!
My favorite thing about our porch has always been the bed swing. It was hand built locally, and it is just beautiful! It’s large enough for three people to fit comfortably, so it’s very nice for when we have company over.
When we were in the process of buying our house a couple of years ago, I found an outdoor daybed that I really thought would go well with the swing. And it really has been great to have, but recently I decided that I wanted to change it up and add something else to the space. The daybed was moved to the back deck, and so the search began for something else to fill that space on the porch.
After looking around a lot and researching, I decided to go with wicker chairs! I found these darling ones at Target! And you really do get a lot of bang for your buck with these. The wicker is very durable, and the cushions come with them! Once the daybed was moved off and the chairs were put in place, I realized how much space the daybed was actually taking up. The chairs make it look so much more open and airy! The exact look I was going for.
Since the daybed took up so much space before, I didn’t really have any room to put anything in this corner of the porch. But now with it gone, it opened up more space to add a cute little side table with some plants. I just love ferns, as you can see. For the most part, they really are an easy plant to deal with, and they thrive here in the south.
On the other side of the porch, I decided to add this cute bench my sweet hubby built for me. It wasn’t built for this particular space, but it fits perfectly. My sweet daughter planted the herbs in the planter and has done such a wonderful job at taking care of them. She keeps them watered and well taken care of.
I want to show you guys a few more views of this space. It really is my favorite place to relax with family and friends. We have an overhead fan that my husband installed, so it helps keep it cooler for the hot summer days.
I had one word that I wanted to come to mind when completing this space, and that word was “inviting”. I really feel like we have finally achieved that goal here. The french doors lead right into the dining room of our home, so that when we have company over (and of course we’ve recently sprayed for mosquitoes) we can leave them open for an open air feel. We’ve lived in this particular house for over two years now, and we are finally checking many “to-do’s” off the list. One BIG to-do was to finish this porch, and we finally made it! It’s perfect! And, for now at least, there’s not one thing I would change about this entire space. We still have a ways to go with other projects around the house, but being able to mark big ones off the list helps so much. It’s a work in progress, but we are definitely enjoying the journey.
Thank you for stopping by and for taking the time to check out my blog! It means so much to me. I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!
