So I feel like I’m about to open up a can of worms here, but am I the only one who has an ongoing “bucket list” for their home?
I am constantly adding to a list of things that I hope to find for my home. It may be something antique that I hope to come across…or something new, made to look old, or even just something that I’ve seen in a picture somewhere that I would love to add to my decor. Whatever it may be, if it catches my eye or peaks my interest, it goes on the list. This list is kept in a small notebook that stays with me at ALL times. You just never know when you may get a bright idea or an inspiring thought just come out of the middle of nowhere.
This past weekend, we made an overnight trip up to Memphis. It was particularly to take my daughter to an event at The Botanic Gardens, but there usually has to be a little shopping on the side at a few stores that our little town just doesn’t offer. I love some good ole HomeGoods and T.J. Maxx. And the most exciting part about it is, you just never know what you’re going to find!
So, I’ve had a particular type of vintage trunk on my bucket list for a long time. And I was able to mark that off my list after this past weekend! Now, let’s just clarify that this is definitely a “look-alike” vintage trunk, but I am OK with that in this case. Original trunks like this were used back in the early 20’s and 30’s as military trunks, suitcases, etc. I would definitely love to have an original one one day, but right now my pocket book doesn’t allow for that. So I am perfectly fine with this one.
Anyway, I was making a quick run into T.J. Maxx to see if there was anything I just couldn’t leave without, and low and behold, I found this baby shoved in a corner with stuff stacked on top of it! It must have fallen from heaven! (or at least that’s how it made me feel) It was perfect! It does have a slight bend on the lid when it’s closed, but in my opinion, that just adds to the character and makes it look even more original.
I decided to put it under the metal side table in my living room. It adds some extra storage space for blankets, books or whatever else needs hiding.
I am so proud of my find! In fact, so excited, that I just had to share it with you guys! My trunk may not have a cool history behind it, but I feel like I saved it from being crushed in the corner of T.J.! I feel like I brought new life into it! Once again, thank you so much for visiting my blog! It means more than you know! I am super excited about some upcoming posts. I hope you will stay tuned and check them out!
